Estimated Paycheck

What Is the Wyoming Paycheck Calculator?

The Wyoming Paycheck Calculator is a payroll estimation tool that converts gross earnings into estimated net take-home pay. It uses the 2026 federal tax values programmed into the calculator and calculates Wyoming state personal income tax as $0. You can start with gross pay for one period or calculate earnings from an hourly rate and hours worked.

A Wyoming paycheck calculator estimates how much of your gross pay remains after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, optional local tax, and payroll deductions. This calculator supports salary and hourly pay, overtime, double time, bonuses, federal W-4 information, pre-tax deductions, post-tax deductions, and year-to-date FICA wages.

The result displays Gross Pay, Federal Income Tax, Social Security, Medicare, Wyoming State Tax, applicable Local Tax, Total Taxes, Total Deductions, and Net Take-Home Pay. It also reports an effective tax rate based on total calculated taxes divided by gross pay.

How the Wyoming Paycheck Calculator Formula Works

The calculation starts with gross earnings for the selected pay period. In Salary / Gross Pay mode, the entered Gross Pay amount becomes regular gross pay. In Hourly mode, the calculator adds regular earnings, overtime at 1.5 times the hourly rate, and double-time earnings at twice the hourly rate. It then adds any bonus or supplemental pay.

Here, G is total gross pay, r is the hourly rate, h_r is regular hours, h_o is overtime hours, h_d is double-time hours, and B is bonus pay. In salary mode, the entered period gross replaces the hourly earnings portion.

The calculator treats its two pre-tax deduction fields differently. Health, FSA, or Section 125 deductions reduce FICA wages and federal income-tax wages. Traditional 401(k) or 403(b) deductions reduce federal income-tax wages but remain part of the FICA wage base.

In these formulas, H is the Health / FSA / Section 125 deduction and R is the traditional 401(k) or 403(b) deduction. Social Security is 6.2% of eligible FICA wages up to the coded $184,500 wage base. Medicare is 1.45%. An additional 0.9% applies to the portion crossing the calculator’s $200,000 year-to-date threshold.

Federal withholding annualizes federal subject wages using the selected pay frequency. The calculator then adds Step 4a Other Income, subtracts Step 4b Deductions and the programmed standard deduction, applies the filing-status tax brackets, subtracts Step 3 Dependents, and converts the result back to one pay period. Step 4c Extra Withholding is then added.

Worked Wyoming paycheck example

Assume $3,000 of biweekly gross pay, Single or Married Filing Separately federal status, no Step 2 selection, no W-4 adjustments, no bonus, no deductions, no local tax, and $0 of year-to-date FICA wages. The calculator annualizes $3,000 across 26 periods to $78,000.

The coded $16,100 federal standard deduction reduces federal taxable income to $61,900. The programmed brackets produce $8,387 of annual federal tax, or about $322.58 for the paycheck. Social Security is $186.00, Medicare is $43.50, Additional Medicare is $0, and Wyoming State Tax is $0.

Total calculated taxes are about $552.08. With no payroll deductions entered, estimated Net Take-Home Pay is $2,447.92. Total taxes divided by $3,000 of gross pay produces an effective tax rate of about 18.4%.

How to Use the Wyoming Paycheck Calculator: Step by Step

  1. Choose Salary / Gross Pay if you know your gross earnings for one pay period. Choose Hourly if you want gross pay calculated from your rate and hours.
  2. Select your Pay Frequency. The calculator supports weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, monthly, quarterly, and annual pay periods.
  3. Enter Gross Pay (Per Period) in salary mode. In hourly mode, enter Hourly Rate, Regular Hours, Overtime Hours, and Double-Time Hours.
  4. Enter YTD Gross Subject to FICA when applicable. The calculator uses it for the Social Security wage limit and Additional Medicare threshold.
  5. Add any Bonus / Supplemental Pay. Choose Combined with Regular Wages or the separate method that applies a flat 22% federal rate to the bonus.
  6. Complete the federal W-4 fields. Select your filing status and enter Step 2 Multiple Jobs, Step 3 Dependents, Step 4a Other Income, Step 4b Deductions, and Step 4c Extra Withholding as applicable.
  7. Enter a Local Tax Rate only if a special exception applies. The calculator multiplies this percentage by total gross pay.
  8. Enter any Traditional 401(k) / 403(b), Health / FSA / Section 125, and Post-Tax Deductions for the pay period.
  9. Check the acknowledgment box to enable Calculate Take-Home Pay, then run the calculation.

The results show gross pay and each calculated tax, followed by Total Taxes, Total Deductions, and Net Take-Home Pay. Wyoming State Tax remains $0.00 in the calculator. Use the net figure as an estimate of the amount remaining after the calculator’s programmed taxes and deductions.

What Your Wyoming Paycheck Calculator Result Means

Wyoming state income tax does not reduce the result because the calculator explicitly sets that amount to zero. Federal withholding, FICA, deductions, bonuses, and any local percentage you enter can still change net pay. Understanding how each field is treated can help you interpret the estimate.

Calculator ItemHow the Code Treats It
Wyoming State TaxAlways calculated as $0.00.
Traditional 401(k) / 403(b)Reduces federal income-tax subject wages but does not reduce Social Security or Medicare wages.
Health / FSA / Section 125Reduces both federal income-tax subject wages and FICA subject wages.
Post-Tax DeductionsDo not reduce the calculator’s tax bases. They are subtracted when determining net pay.
YTD Gross Subject to FICAReduces remaining Social Security wage-base room and affects Additional Medicare withholding.
Local Tax RateApplies the entered percentage directly to total gross pay.

Wyoming state income tax is fixed at zero

The calculator contains no Wyoming income-tax brackets, filing status, exemptions, or state withholding inputs. Instead, its state-tax variable is set directly to zero. The results therefore always show Wyoming State Tax: $0.00. The calculator also states that it does not include employee-paid Wyoming disability or paid family leave taxes.

Year-to-date wages matter near FICA thresholds

The YTD Gross Subject to FICA field affects two calculations. First, it reduces remaining room under the programmed $184,500 Social Security wage base. Second, it helps determine whether current FICA wages cross the $200,000 Additional Medicare threshold. Once the Social Security limit is reached, the calculator reduces or stops current Social Security withholding as needed.

Combined and separate bonus methods work differently

With Combined with Regular Wages, the bonus becomes part of the federal subject wages used in the normal withholding calculation. With Separate (Flat Fed 22%), the calculator computes federal tax on regular subject wages separately and adds 22% of the bonus. Any Step 4c Extra Withholding is then added to the federal amount.

Pre-tax and post-tax deductions are not treated the same

A traditional 401(k) or 403(b) lowers federal income-tax subject wages in this calculator but remains subject to FICA. Health, FSA, and Section 125 deductions lower both federal and FICA subject wages. Post-tax deductions do not lower either tax base. All three entered deduction amounts are included in Total Deductions.

Limits of the paycheck estimate

The calculator uses the 2026 rates, thresholds, brackets, and assumptions programmed into its code. Actual payroll can differ because of employer payroll procedures, taxable benefits, deduction treatment, tax-law changes, rounding, withholding elections, or other information not represented by the available fields. The Local Tax Rate field is available even though its help text says Wyoming prohibits local income taxes on employee paychecks and should only be used for a special exception.

Numeric inputs are converted to nonnegative values by the calculation. The calculator will not calculate when total gross pay is $0 or less. It does not cap deductions at the amount of gross pay, so unusually large entered deductions can produce a very low or negative net-pay estimate. Results are estimates and are not payroll, tax, legal, or accounting advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the Wyoming paycheck calculator?

The Wyoming paycheck calculator provides an estimate using the 2026 formulas and values programmed into the tool. Its accuracy depends on the information you enter and how closely the available fields match your payroll situation. Employer-specific benefits, taxable compensation, deduction treatment, withholding settings, and other payroll adjustments can make your actual paycheck different.

What taxes does the Wyoming paycheck calculator include?

The calculator includes federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, and Additional Medicare withholding when its threshold is crossed. Wyoming State Tax is always calculated as $0.00. The tool can also add a local tax if you enter a percentage, although its interface says that field should only be used for a special exception.

How does the Wyoming paycheck calculator handle overtime?

In Hourly mode, overtime hours are multiplied by 1.5 times the entered hourly rate. Double-time hours are multiplied by twice the hourly rate. Regular, overtime, and double-time earnings are added together before any bonus is added. The resulting gross pay is then used for the calculator’s tax and deduction calculations.

Does Wyoming state income tax come out of my paycheck in this calculator?

No. Wyoming State Tax is fixed at $0.00 in this calculator. There are no Wyoming filing-status, exemption, allowance, or state withholding fields. The tool therefore calculates take-home pay using federal taxes, any entered local tax, and payroll deductions without subtracting a Wyoming personal income-tax amount.

Does a 401(k) reduce taxes in this Wyoming paycheck calculator?

A traditional 401(k) or 403(b) contribution reduces the wage amount used for federal income-tax calculations in this tool. It does not reduce the wage base used for Social Security or Medicare. The contribution is also included in Total Deductions, so it lowers the final Net Take-Home Pay displayed by the calculator.

How are bonuses taxed in the Wyoming paycheck calculator?

A bonus can be combined with regular wages or handled using the separate supplemental method. Under the separate method, the calculator applies 22% federal withholding to the bonus and calculates regular federal withholding separately. Wyoming state income tax remains $0 under either method. FICA calculations use total gross pay subject to the calculator’s deduction rules.

Why does year-to-date gross matter for my Wyoming paycheck?

Year-to-date FICA gross affects Social Security and Additional Medicare withholding in this calculator. It determines how much room remains below the programmed $184,500 Social Security wage base. It also helps determine whether current FICA wages cross $200,000, which triggers the calculator’s additional 0.9% Medicare withholding on the applicable amount.
