A Runs Produced Calculator is a baseball statistics tool that combines runs scored (R) and runs batted in (RBI), then subtracts home runs (HR). The subtraction prevents a batter’s home run from being counted twice because that home run contributes both a run scored and at least one RBI for the batter.

Runs Produced is a counting statistic. That means the result generally grows as a player accumulates more runs and RBI. Unlike a rate statistic, this calculator does not adjust the result for games played, plate appearances, or opportunities.

Use Matching Baseball Statistics
All three inputs should describe the same player and the same period. Mixing a full-season runs total with a one-month RBI total would make the result difficult to interpret. The same principle applies when comparing players. Consistent time periods make the calculation more meaningful.
Understand What RP Does Not Measure
This calculator uses only R, RBI, and HR. It does not account for walks, doubles, triples, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, baserunning, defensive value, park effects, league environment, or playing time. Two players can therefore have similar RP totals while contributing differently in other areas.
Watch for Invalid Home Run Totals
